ATEX certification for our bevel gearboxes: here's what it means for the safety of our customers

We are very proud to announce that dedicated engineering has enabled the development of a range of bevel gearboxes that has recently received ATEX certification-but what exactly does this certification involve and why is it so important for safety?

ATEX certification (short for "ATmosphere EXplosive") is a European certification that indicates a product's compliance with safety standards for use in potentially explosive environments.

These environments can be characterized by the presence of flammable gases, combustible dusts or vapors, and pose a high risk to the people and equipment present.

To obtain ATEX certification, we subjected our bevel gearboxes to a series of rigorous tests, including:

- the electrical resistance test, to test the product's resistance to the buildup of electrical charges and associated initiating discharges

- the temperature test, to ensure that the product is not in danger of overheating or generating excessive heat

- the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test to ensure that the product does not emit electromagnetic waves that could interfere with other electronic devices in the environment

- the endurance test that subjects the product to drop and impact tests to verify its mechanical resilience and ability to withstand external stresses

- the leak test to ensure that the product knows how to maintain its integrity even in the presence of combustible gas or dust

- the verification of the instructions for proper incorporation, where all information is provided and preparatory to safe use in potentially explosive environments

Why is it critical for our customers that our bevel gearboxes are ATEX certified?
