Free mammograms and ultrasounds: Unimec Citius again among the partners of the initiative for the prevention of breast cancer

The slogan of Unimec Citius is "faster, higher, stronger"; a phrase that refers not only to the working sphere, but a real mission that we want to honor in all causes that are close to our hearts.

We want the diagnosis for possible breast cancers to be "faster"; in 2018 breast cancer represented the first cause of death from cancer in women within Italy, with 13,076 deaths (data from the Italian National Institute of Statistics).

Screening for early detection of breast cancer is aimed at women aged between 50 and 69 years and is performed with a mammogram every 2 years: although at a young age these cancers are rare, it is still very important to do prevention through screening exams.

That's why, also this year, Unimec Ciutis has been partner of the WelfareCare event (in collaboration with Prevenzione è Vita) held in Mestrino (Padua) on 13th and 14th April 2022: in these two days women could undergo mammograms and ultrasounds completely free of charge for the prevention of breast cancer. To join the initiative was sufficient to book on the site welfarecare.org and present themselves for acceptance with the documentation printed and already completed.

Thanks to our support and that of many other companies in the area that have made this initiative possible, 139 free examinations were carried out (51 mammograms and 88 ultrasounds) that have allowed almost 100 women to keep their health under control.

And with initiatives like these, Unimec Citius can be "stronger" for the community: our company is always in first place if it can give the opportunity to reach "higher" to those who need it.
