Unimec has been designing and producing mechanical screw jacks for years: these screw jacks are designed for different applications and, once again, Unimec has had a key role in the development of a pioneering project. A challenge that the company has been able to overcome thanks to the versatility and the high preparation of its technical Staff.

The Italian company has recently worked on the design and realization of a screw jack TPR size 12014: this screw jack has a 125x25-ISO-5 special Ipiranga spindle (Big Ball version) of 7 metres in length, with balls with a diameter of 18,875.

This spindle is currently the top on the market within its category, especially if we consider that - generally - ball spindles usually are smaller and support lighter loads: finding a 7 meters spindle has been a real challenge for Unimec but, as usual, the company has been able to find the right solution.

Nevertheless, the spindle of this screw jack is not its main feature: it’s an outstanding product also because it has a special squared flange with R+W blade coupling.

Unimec paid particular attention to the choice of the top quality internal components like the wheel made of special “reinforced” lead and the thrust bearings SFK rollers, a considered decision based on the fact that “spherical thrust bearings, same dimensions, could not have backed up the load, whose maximum static value is 75 tons while the dynamic one is 48 tons” explains Tomas Teruzzi, Unimec’s Chief Technical Officer.

Mr. Teruzzi underlines also that “for Unimec the R&D activity is essential, for this reason we have decided to invest important resources towards this direction: in fact, we want to realize products able to guarantee always better performances, as proved by our recent patents”.

The final result of the project is a screw jack without parallel, of excellent quality: the last barrier for Unimec has been finding a proper transportation, able to manage wooden boxes of 7 metres in lenght, an obstacle pretty well overcome by the Italian company.

These extraordinary screw jacks realized by Unimec are addressed to a futuristic machine tool: unfortunately, we have to stop telling. In fact, in the case of critical application like the one we are writing about, for Unimec is important to keep the privacy agreements established with the Customers.

Once again Unimec has been able to prove its leadership in the field of power transmissions: thanks to a qualified technical Staff, the Italian company can be proud of another exceptional product, showing once again that Unimec’s strong point is being so special, like its mechanical screw jacks and bevel gearboxes.
