Unimec supplies 4 special Screw Jacks for the first 100% electric boat in the world

We are proud to announce that we recently signed an agreement with a prestigious Norwegian navigation company to supply special Screw Jacks for a new, revolutionary application.

Our customer is a ferry and cruise company operating in the Scandinavian fjord region, well-known in the industry for its commitment to sustainable transportation.

Unimec’s special Screw-Jacks will have a key role in this innovative project: the first fully operational electric boat prototype in the world.

This represents an exciting challenge and a great leap forward in new, eco-friendly and sustainable maritime transportation solutions.

Our Screw Jack will have a central function in this project: specifically, they will operate the battery replacement mechanism used to replace exhausted batteries with new fully- charged units.

Due to the extreme weight of these batteries, the battery swap mechanism requires components capable of operating in maximum safety under heavy loads: each one of our special Screw Jacks is capable of supporting loads weighing up to 60 tons (approx. 130,000 lbs).

These units will also be equipped with a special nut, equipped with a custom temperature probe, specifically designed to operate in frigid cold weather conditions and constantly monitoring any risk of nut overheating: this special accessory, allows to monitor the core vitals of the application and avoid any malfunctioning or complications that may arise from overheating.

This custom product is another testament to Unimec’s commitment to always provide tailored solutions to all our customers’ complex applications.
